SLATE
J's Designs - Faux Slate

The rich graininess of
quarry-cut slate is
easily achieved through
this recipe.

RECIPE

Step One: Prime the surface with one coat of latex or alkyd primer.

Step Two: Mix one part acrylic paint tinted to P&L 1313 Misty Moors to 6 parts Texturline Texturbase White.

Step Three: Use a cross hatch technique with blue steel spatulas - cover the entire surface. Allow to dry.

Step Four: Mix one part acrylic paint tinted to P&L 1479 Hemlock to 6 parts Texturline Texturtop tintable white. Using the blue steel spatulas, apply a thin coat of this mixture to 25% of the surface.

Step Five: Mix one part acrylic paint tinted to P&L 1478 Storm to 6 parts Texturline Texturtop tintable white. Using the blue steel spatulas, apply a thin coat of this mixture to the surface.

Step Six: When dry, burnish the surface with the flat side of the spatula.
