RAGGING OFF
J's Designs - Faux Ragging Off

Negative Ragging is often a very soft finish, but one of the more difficult ones to master. For your first time, always work with a partner.

RECIPE

Step One: Apply two coats of Pratt and Lambert Accolade Velvet finish tinted to #1286 Airy Blue. Let paint dry for several hours.

Step Two: Most any glaze or latex varnish can be used to do this technique, including Ralph Lauren Technique Glaze, Pratt and Lambert Latex Glaze, Pratt and Lambert Oil Glaze, Polyvine Scumble and Polyvine Classic Colour Effects. Mix 3 parts glaze with 1 part paint. For a more subtle finish, add more glaze to the mixture. In this case, we have used Accolade Velvet #1680 Fig and #2258 Kodiak Grey.

Step Three: Pour your glaze mixture into a paint tray or deep pail. You will need several moist, lint free rags (sheeting). Immerse one rag into the glaze mixture and wring out as much product as possible. Blot excess glaze onto a piece of cardboard. At this stage, you can apply a pattern by rolling the rag on the wall surface (usually starting from the bottom of the wall and working up), by dabbing the rag onto the wall, or by rubbing the rag gently into the wall. Our sample has been done by dabbing the rag onto the surface. ( If you work with a friend, remember that everyone's technique is somewhat different).

Step Four: Repeat step three using the second color.

Step Five: Stand Back and Admire!
